FINDING MAYNARD

Current Attraction(s): Honey, I Shrunk the Audience

Finding Maynard at Disneyland can be quite a difficult task and sometimes a letdown if you aren't able to find him. I've put a few tips here to help you in your search for this great Cast Member. Listed above is the attraction you will most likely be able to find him on when you visit, but he does often work others too! Maynard and his brothers currently work the following attractions: Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion, Indiana Jones Adventure, Fantasmic! Guest Control and Parade Guest Control. Maynard is a Casual Regular Cast Member, which means he works all holidays, weekends, including Friday nights and some special evening events. If your are traveling to the park during the off-season on a weekday he probably will not be working. Below are some tips on finding him on the listed attractions.

Honey, I Shrunk the Audience:
If the line is really long, journey on over to the exit of Honey (the right side of the attraction) and wait around for a Cast Member to show up. Ask them if they know if Professor Maynard is working. Some will know right off the bat and others will be willing to open the door that is right there and look at the rotation information that is posted for the day. If the line for the show is short just get into line and ask the Cast Members that are handing out the safety goggles if Maynard is working. If you do find that he is working these are the possible positions that he might be in:
  • Greeter, located at the entrance by the sign at the front of the line. This is a great place to talk with him because he'll have a few extra moments to say hi.
  • Entrance, this is the podium where they hand out goggles to the guests. He will have a few moments to say hi, but he will be hard at work handing out goggles to guests who are entering the attraction.
  • Pre-show, this is the podium that is down the ramp by the front doors. Here he gives his great adaptation of the standard spiel. He'll have a quick moment to talk with you here.
  • Auditorium, this is the location where he introduces the show and makes sure guests walk all the way across the auditorium, and don't stop in the middle. He won't have a chance to talk with you, but you will see his best show as his acting is really brought to life.
  • Exit, this is where he makes sure guests deposit their goggles in the receptacles. While working here he has to take the goggles backstage for cleaning so he again only have a quick moment to say hi.
  • Goggle duty, this is when he is backstage making sure the goggles are being cleaned correctly. If he's here you should wait at the Exit until he comes back onstage.
  • Break/lunch, this is his break. This means he's not around and you'll have to wait quite a while for him to return. You'll probably want to come back in 30 minutes to an hour.

Jungle Cruise/Tiki Room:
If you wish to say hi to Jungle Maynard the Jungle Cruise is a very difficult one to do it on. You'll probably have to wait a while, and there isn't much you can do but watch his great show as Skipper of his boat. You can find out if he is working at the attraction by walking up the exit to the little "control booth". Here you'll find a few Cast Members and you can ask one of them if he is working. These are the places he might be:
  • Skipper, this is where he takes a boat around the jungle rivers and gives a great show. If he is currently a skipper, and the Cast Members tell you he'll be there a while, hop into line and wait with everyone. Once you get to the dock ask if you can wait for Maynard's boat to come around. If you have a small party of two or three, most of the boat loaders will be happy to let you wait.
  • Load/Unload, this is where he loads and unloads boats. If he is unloading he'll have a second to say hi in-between unloading boats. If he is loading you'll have to jump into line and say hi as he loads you onto a boat.
  • Tiki Room, more recently Disneyland has been staffing the Tiki Room with Jungle Cruise skippers. Quite often they will have one or two skippers working the queue waiting area of the Tiki Room and the inside of the show. You can look for Maynard here at either the entrance of the attraction, or try to peak inside between shows. His Tiki Room act can be quite entertaining, so if you know he's inside I'd suggest sticking around for the show to watch him.
  • Break/lunch, this is his break. This means he's not around and you'll have to wait quite a while for him to return. You'll probably want to come back in 30 minutes to an hour.

Haunted Mansion:
This is the attraction Maynard's Evil Twin is best known for and where he really fits into character. To find him get into the line and when you approach the stairs at the entrance wait around by the chain for a Cast Member to come into view. Either call to them or wait for them to come to you and ask if he is working. Many times it will be hard to get a straight answer from the Cast Members at this attraction since lots of people ask for him here. If they say he is working be sure to ask where he is "in the rotation". (They'll be surprised you know that, and it is a word that can be used for any of the attractions.) These are the following positions that he might be in.
  • Foyer, this is the person that stands at the entrance and lets a set amount of people into the Foyer of the Mansion. He'll have a moment to say hi in between loading guests into the Foyer.
  • ER (Stretch Room), this is where he is at his best in the Haunted Mansion and at times seems to become the 1000th ghost. If he's here you're in luck for seeing one of his best shows, but if you wish to talk with him you'll have a lot of trouble getting him out of character.
  • Load, be careful because if you make any comments he'll be sure to scare you as you travel up the stairs in you doom buggy.
  • Unload, this is at the end of the ride and also where Maynard's twin shows guests many of his little toys. If you want to say hi, this is also a fairly good place since you can stop for moment to do so.
  • Tower/Break/Lunch, in all of these cases he is backstage and you won't be able to talk with him. Return in about 30 minutes to an hour and he should be back.
Indiana Jones:
He rarely works here and when he does he is only a greeter at then entrance to the attraction. All you'll need to do is walk up to the entrance a look for him. If he's here you'll see him and if not you'll want you venture on to one of the other attractions he may be working.

Guest Control:
In the case of both Fantasmic! and the Parades, it will be fairly difficult to find Maynard. You'll basically have to walk up and down the parade route / the Fantasmic! viewing area. Few Cast Members that work guest control know who they are working with since arrival times vary and the location is so spread out. You can ask, someone might know, or you'll probably be directed to the Haunted Mansion (even though he may not be working there). Maynard rarely works Guest Control, so unless it's posted above he probably is at an attraction.
