MEETING MAYNARD Just a note about my first (and, unfortunately, only) encounter with Maynard. Two summers ago, me, my wife and my two kids, 6 and 3 at the time, hit Disneyland for 5 days. This gave us a chance to really explore and catch rides at different times, with different experiences (imagine NO line at Indiana Jones!). On our way out one night, we decided to stop off at the Jungle Cruise just to see it at night. And there was Maynard, signing and joking and having a great time. So we got on. I'm usually a good audience for Jungle Cruise skippers anyway, because I laugh heartily at nearly everything, but he was wild. And he chose my daughter to be skipper the boat, so it was the night of her life. He made jokes I've never heard before (and I've visited countless times) and had great fun with the dark. At the end of the ride, he gave my daughter a certificate saying she skippered the boat, and he posed for one of his wild-look photos. It was one of the best times we ever had at Disneyland. I want to thank him for going the extra mile.
